Hello Dosbarth Ladybirds. I have attached a letter below outlining what your home task is for the half term holiday. Get busy with those love spoons!

SCHOOL CLOSURE - 19.01.23

Hello Ladybirds! I hope you are all having a great day. Unfortunately due to the icy conditions school has had to close today but below are some activities for you to complete if you get a chance. If you have any questions email me on jonesg498@hwbcymru.net

Thanks,

Mr Jones

Last Friday the children enjoyed their reward for ending the week on 55 or more golden points πŸ₯‡πŸž Da iawn and keep it up Ladybirds!

Last week our Ladybirds did an amazing job at drawing and painting a self portrait πŸ‘πŸΌπŸž

During our Forest School today we explored our five senses through drawing and writing what we could see, hear, smell, taste and touch πŸ‘‚πŸΌπŸ‘πŸ‘ƒπŸΌπŸ‘…βœ‹πŸΌ

We had great fun in PE today playing the β€˜rock, paper, scissors’ game β˜€οΈπŸž

As we began a new month last week, we decided to sing β€˜You’ve got a friend in me’ from Toy Story, to celebrate our value of the month for September which was friendship πŸŽ€πŸ‘«πŸΌπŸŽ΅

Today we went on a scavenger hunt to see what we could find πŸŒ³πŸ‚πŸŒΏ

We had an amazing day at Techniquest exploring all that was on offer and becoming scientists for the day. We thoroughly enjoyed finding out β€˜All About Me’.

LLONGYFACHIADAU!!! CONGRATULATIONS DOSBARTH LADYBIRDS!!! Winners this week for the attendance, Keep it up year two!

During our Forest school time we made crowns made from natural materials. In our construction area we have been challenging ourselves to make moving vehicles.

We have enjoyed a fitness session today with Dame Darcey Bussell.

Below is a link for maths games the children have been using in class. The shark number game will help the children build their understanding of number. The link can also be used to access phonic games as well.

Jolly phonics can be accessed through you tube to help build the children's phonic skills.

Croeso i ddosbarth 2! Welcome to Year 2

We are very much looking forward to an exciting, happy and successful year ahead!

Below is some information about our class that you might find really useful.

  • PE and Forest School Day – every Thursday

Please send the children to school dressed ready in appropriate clothing and suitable footwear.

  • Uniform is very important.

Please send your child to school in the appropriate uniform – red cardigan/jumper, white polo t-shirt, black shoes or trainers. We understand the need to keep costs down, so uniform can be purchased from supermarkets such as Tesco or Asda and does not need to have the school logo. Please ensure that all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

  • School timings have changed.

Children must be in school just before 9am, so they are ready to start their day at 9am promptly. The school day ends at 3:05pm.

  • School snack has returned.

If you would like your child to be provided with a piece of fruit in school, then please send in £1 each week in a labelled envelope. This is optional. Your child can bring in their own fruit if they would rather.

  • Water bottles

Please make sure your child brings in a water bottle daily. I must emphasise that it has to be water and not squash or any other drink.

  • Labelled items.

Please make sure your child’s clothing is clearly labelled with their name, as well as their bottles and snack. We really don’t want any of your child’s belongings to go missing!

  • Homework – Monday to Monday

Every Monday you child will bring home a piece of work. One week it will be Literacy (spellings, handwriting etc…) other weeks it will be Maths. These both must be returned the following Monday so reading books can be changed and new homework sent home.

  • Reading at home- your child will be allocated a reading day.

On this day their book must be brought into school, they will read with a teacher and the book will be changed for home practice. It is vital you return your books from home as they are expensive to replace in school. Your child may also bring home words to practice to match certain books. A note in your child’s reading record will also help us to see their progress. Your child can also practice at home via the Oxford Reading Buddy online (same log-ins as last year!).

  • Point of contact-

Class Dojo will be the most sufficient and quickest way to contact me with any questions and queries. Class Dojo will also be used for vital updates for our class, so please keep an eye our page using the App
