Year 6 Transition Day at ACS
Wed 22 Jun 2022Hello, we have been informed that as parents of Year 6 pupils you have all received an email from ACS regarding the transition day next week - Thursday 30th June.
The children do not need to come into Blaengwawr before going to their transition day. They will all have their attendance mark for that day automatically if they go to ACS. Primary school staff do not attend the transition day with the children as ACS staff run all the activities.
As parents you need to get the children there for 9.30am and collect them at 2.30pm. They will be doing some taster lessons and one of these will include PE so it is recommended that they wear shorts, a t-shirt and trainers. All the children from schools in Aberdare who are attending have been assigned a colour group so ACS have requested that if possible, could your child please wear an item of clothing in that colour. All the children were told their colour group yesterday and we will send a text through to parents to share the information as well.
The children will need to bring a packed lunch (if your child is entitled to a free school meal this will be provided by ACS). If you have any additional queries please do give ACS a call on 01685 888500.

Donations for Ukraine
Wed 16 Mar 2022Morning #teamblaengwawr, one of our families have a contact who will be going out to Ukraine at the end of March and they are able to take some donations out with them. They are organising a collection of soft toys, warm clothes (including hats, coats, gloves and scarves) and medical supplies (plasters, dressings, bandages etc) to support people in need.
If you would like to make a donation by bringing things into school please make sure any second hand items are clean and in good condition.
Many thanks

Welsh Government Advice on 5 day isolation rules

Back to school arrangements
Fri 18 Dec 2020Important information regarding the start of term in January 2021 – The school has been directed by RCT Council that Monday 4th & Tuesday 5th January will be planning and preparation days to ensure the safe return of pupils in the new year. This is in line with all other primary schools across the LA and has come from Welsh Government as part of the Tier 4 restrictions due to the rise in Covid-19 cases across South Wales.
There will be no school for pupils on 4th or 5th January but we plan to open for all children as usual on Wednesday 6th January with the same rules we have been using since the start of the autumn term.
We know that things are changing on a regular basis so we can’t predict if the situation may need to change in January so we will update all families on 4th January 2021.
Wishing all our families a Happy and safe Christmas. Look forward to seeing you again in 2021.
